New Format for Living

David Douglas Stuart
We’ve well and truly reformatted our lives.

“Are we really going to do this?” my wife asked me.

“Well, we’ve been talking about it for more than 10 years. If we don’t don’t it now, we’ll never do it,” I replied.

We were, of course, talking about quitting our jobs, selling our house, taking our daughter out of school and taking off around the world for a couple of years (at least).

My dream job was making news videos for the internet at ABC News and walking away from that was the hardest aspect for me – I loved working at the ABC and I’d worked so hard and been rejected so many times to get my foot in the door.

Fortunately ABC Life – the corporation’s lifestyle masthead – has commissioned a series from me so I’m still working for Australia’s national broadcaster.

The series is called New Format for Living and it’s a monthly slice of our family adventure around the world.
